Best Thursday Shopping Purchase Ever!

I am now off to work for the rest of the night but I just wanted to share this with you all. Lissy and I had the best shopping Thursday ever. I bought the below dress for my birthday month? Maybe? I just thought I couldn't pass it up. It looks sooooo cute on. The perfect length for my short legs and flatters the curves in all the right ways. La Rok has done it again!

Happy Friday!

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Ladies & Gents,
I just watched Confessions of a Shopaholic and although not the best movie on the planet, it was endearing in some ways and made me chuckle at my own spending habits. I am by no means as awful with credit cards as Rebecca Bloomwood and in fact I only have one, with a spending limit on it (best idea ever, btw). Buttttttt.....I do understand the insanity of what so many women and men do in this day and age. Spend. We all love to spend. We love the satisfaction of a tag on a new item just waiting to be snipped off or the smell of new leather shoes or the gratitude of a nice passerby on the street who says she loves your NEW bag. It's the longing for satisfaction from either yourself or those around me. Personally, it's both. The most important critic is of course me and if it doesn't exude fabulosity and confidence then it wasn't worth it but it is SO nice when someone comments on your own style and admires your take on the world of consumer products. Right now, for instance, I am gushing over this DVF Keoni rainbow top that I tried on in the store in NY in February but couldn't bring myself to buy. But now, its on sale at Neimans. A girl could cry. But, I stopped myself. As much as I have dreamed about it the last two nights and keep thinking about walking back into the store to buy, I can't. I even tried it on multiple times and it was cuter on then on any lousy mannequin or hanger. :( I need to learn to save. My closet is overflowing with items I either haven't worn in ages or only wore once, and I just cleaned out my closet last weekend. Sick, I know. It would look so lovely on the hanger on the bottom shelf front and center of my hanging side but I refrain. For now. Last Call is July 15th, everyone. I know it won't be there but a girl can dream.

Hope everyone had a lovely Wednesday evening. Architecture Digest dish to come soon. Fabulous interior design that I'm dying to share with you all!

Sex and the City

Is it so completely sad and pathetic that I am completely content watching my favorite movie, Sex and the City, with a glass of red wine? The movie makes me so happy inside. I fell in love with the series and adore Sarah Jessica Parker so tonight could not get any better. The movie makes me even more ecstatic because every time I watch it I pick out something new of theirs that I want to go out and purchase. Most of the items are big investments but I have my wish list on a sticky note on my desktop to remind me of why I'm saving my money. For example, I love the red vintage floral dress she wears here.
Or this green floral jacket that i can't seem to find the designer for. Yes, I'm really into floral prints right now but it can't be the tacky small floral print reminiscent of the 80's....in a bad way.
I love those black Dior shoes she's wearing too.
And let me just tell you...Mr. Zac Posen did the most beautiful job on the bridesmaids gowns for this movie. It is unreal. So beautiful.

And this dress below that Carrie wears for Fashion Week in the movie by Dolce & Gabbana is my favorite. I will own it one day...20 years from now maybe, but someday.

And last but not least, Carries vintage frock by the late Yves Saint Laurent. Stunning and yet, flattering. And those damn Dior sandals again lol.

Must go to sleep now for work tomorrow!
Have a wonderful Father's Day weekend :)

Good morning Tuesday!

"Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful."
~Sophia Loren

A confident woman in this day and age is the most important accessory one can possess.
Anddddd, it is recession proof. No need to go out and purchase this. Just believing in yourself, respecting yourself, and loving you for you is so attr-active. In the coming days, I will share with you all the musings of Nina Garcia in her book, The Little Black Book of Style
The simplicity and intrigue that this book provides should be every girls best friend.
Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Summertime with Neiman Marcus :)

My favorite place for shopping, Neiman Marcus, has gotten it right for the summer. Their 9 things for 90 degrees may be the most brilliant online advertising they've done in a long time. It inspires women of all ages to revamp their summer look, or at least it did so for me. Let's face it, Neiman Marcus can be expensive. I know I'm a Last Call kinda girl, especially with my college budget and this not-so-fabulous recession hitting us like this years hurricane season. Butttttt, on a lighter note, they do have some super cute things.

1. Summer Party Dresses
My favorite!!!! Last summer, I was all about the patio dresses from Theory, Prairie, and Ellie Tahari. This summer, DVF and Milly do a fantastic job. The swirl prints and pops of color really bring about a simple femininity. DVF does v-necks with dolman sleeves in silk while Milly does banded natural waistlines and paisley prints (I don't know about the ball drop trim but I'm going with it). Both of these successful women top my list of favorite designers with their inspired looks that fit a true female body and not just a runway model.

2. Metallics

When it comes to metallics, I am cautious. I stick to two kinds of metallics, shoes and handbags. I love Prada's Vitello Daino Tote and Tory Burch's Vintage Reva Metallic Clutch. Both of these designers always get it right with handbags and although I'm not purchasing them any time soon, a girl can always dream and I like to dream BIG!:) The removable straps on both of these bags turns any bag from day to evening in a second.

3. Big Earrings

I'm struggling with this look. I'm so used to simple danglies and studs that I need to step out of my box and try some of these. I really like these Jose and Maria Barrera chandelier earrings in golden turquoise Austrian crystals. The tear drop of the crystal elongates the face and is really pretty with upswept hair. Not to mention, these are made in the USA, always a HUGE plus.

4. Retro Sunglasses

Skittles and I have decided we love old school Ray Ban Aviators and Sissy's (that's me when I'm at home) favorite, Mr. Oliver Peoples. Oliver is one of my classic staples and I wear their sunglasses everyday. Usually, I would say bigger is better in terms of eyewear but here I'm going with the opposite. The new campaign for Oliver Peoples features Zooey Deschanel and our personal favorite retro sunglasses are called Zooey's!

5. Shorts

Shorts usually aren't my thing since I have stumpy legs that don't always flatter my previous cheerleader thighs but I do love a good white short for those blazing summer days. I put my jeans away at about 85 degrees. And around these parts, that was last week. Theory, this year made adorable white Boyfriend shorts with cuffed legs and made of simple cotton and spandex.

6. Bare Tops

I now know why I do kickboxing with weights, these bare tops. Catherine Malandrino did a superb job with the one below. The simple white top with floral trim and square neckline is extremely flattering for the summer and I adore the turquoise buttons.

7. Bikinis

Ok, this is where I draw the line. I can not reason spending more than $100 on a single piece of a bathing suit. Therefore, Neiman's isn't my go to spot for swimwear. Personally, I'm a Target kinda girl. I refuse to order a bathing suit online but if I do, it's definitely through Victoria's Secret. They make the "girls" (our lovely lady extremities) look nice and perky. I just bought this one for our trip to the Turks and Caicos. Huge sale going on at Victoriasecret.com

8. Beach Bags

In honor of my mom and Domestic Diva, I'm going with the Eric Javits Skipper Tote for this summer. My mom is a huge new fan of his and I do believe she may even own this exact bag lol.  I love Javits not only because he's a New York designer but because of the fabulous use of fibers and braided handles.

9. Sun & Skin products

UV Protective Everyday Facial Moisturizing Sunscreen Cream, SPF 15. Enough said. I use this stuff every day of my life and it is the best moisturizer I have ever used and doesn't leave my face oily or shiny. I believe that whatever you put on your face should have some sort of SPF in it. When I redid my makeup this past May, everything I bought had SPF in it, from tinted moisturizer to eye shadows and lip glosses to my pressed powders. It's so important in the summer sun that you take care of your most vital body part, your face. It's the first thing people see and is the most prone to sun exposure. No one wants skin cancer. As I dream of being a doctor (dermatologist, please), I'd like to promote good skin care and preventive medicine whenever and wherever I can.

All products are available at Neiman Marcus, except for the bathing suit (Victoria's Secret).

Quote of the Day- DVF

My 2nd Blog

Hello all,
Yes it is crazy that I have started another blog but this one is more about my shopaholic ways and all things I'm loving at the moment. This includes everything from interior design, fashion, and art. My youngest sister, Skittles, is the inspiration for the blog because she makes fun of me all the time for having so many clothes and not enough room for all my "stuff." With all of my magazines and books on stylish women over the ages, she told me I needed a blog just for that stuff. Then the kicker; she came up with the name. She says to me, "Sissy, it should be called Pink Pearls & Prada Purses. Pink Pearls because that's the only color pearls you have and Prada Purses because you are always carrying that black Prada from Christmas and it's your favorite. Anddddd...its all P's!" She's genius, that kid.

Now, giving credit where credit is due. Without the help of my stylish Mom (who has worked in the fashion industry for over thirty years in retail, wholesale, and design) and my Dad (textile man himself, we always joke he could be gay because no father dresses that well and loves decorating his house more than him), I would not be so crazy about shopping and have such a love for the art. Then there are Skittles and Lita, my sisters who inspire me on a daily basis in their own way. I refer to them as my TEAM because they are constantly giving me ideas for things I should blog about or shop for.

My pink pearls I have to say come from my Aunt. Pictures to come later but they are perfect for any occasion. They are the classic jewelry piece for any woman and are timelessly elegant. My aunt's business sells pearl jewelry in every color and they come in rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. My dangly pink pearl earrings are the perfect pair to go from day to night with any outfit.

Now onto my beloved black bag. My pride and joy. This bag will be with me when I'm eighty years old. Given to me by my mother for Christmas, this black tote is beyond versatile. For any girl that loves big handbags, the Prada Tote in Chevron Quilted Black is fabulous.
